How to prepare for an eyebrow treatment
Author: Tsvety Bita, permanent makeup specialist

Your final results can depend on how your skin is prepared before the treatment. That is why it is important to read these general terms and recommendations before your brow appointment, whichever technique you have chosen.
For 1 month before the treatment, avoid using
- AHAs (alpha hydroxy acids) – glycolic acid, lactic acid, mandelic acid, malic acid, citric acid, tartaric acid
- BHAs (beta hydroxy acids) – salicylic acid, betaine salicylate
- PHAs (polyhydroxy acids) – gluconolactone and lactobionic acid
Botox and fillers
- If you have had Botox or fillers in the forehead area, it is best to wait 1 month before having your brows done.
- If you are planning Botox or fillers, it is preferable to have them after the brow treatment – at the earliest 2 weeks afterwards.
Medication
- For 10 days before a brow treatment, it is preferable not to take blood-thinning medicines or supplements. They make it harder for the skin to hold pigment, and bleeding would make the treatment difficult. If you need these medicines, talk to your doctor about reducing or pausing them according to a plan until after your treatment.
- Do not take antihistamines.
Brow grooming:
- Do not shape or trim your brows for one week before the treatment.
- Do not tint your brows with brow dye.
- Do not have a brow lamination.
- Do not tint them with henna.
24 hours before the treatment:
- Do not drink alcohol.
- Do not take aspirin.
- Reduce your caffeine intake.
- Do not use a sunbed.
