Semi-permanent makeup for clients with alopecia

What you need to know
- One of the biggest advantages of microblading over all other techniques is that it can create a natural-looking brow even when there are few natural brow hairs. Loss of natural brow hair can be caused by several conditions, one of the most common being alopecia.
- Close to 150 million people worldwide are estimated to have the autoimmune condition alopecia, which can lead to total loss of hair, lashes, brows and so on.
- Whether you have alopecia totalis or alopecia areata, the semi-permanent makeup industry has a solution for your case, and a brow treatment can be done.
Is semi-permanent makeup safe for clients with alopecia?
- Yes!
- There are no contraindications that prevent the treatment. The only thing to keep in mind, because of the state of the immune system, is that the colour may fade faster than expected. The treatment is painless, so there is no need to worry about pain – a local anaesthetic is used. The treatment consists of two visits: the initial one, followed by an included touch-up, done no earlier than one month and no later than three months after the initial treatment.
Which technique is most suitable?
- If you have alopecia areata, the most suitable technique for you is microblading, because with this type of alopecia only some areas of natural hair are missing. Microblading would look extremely natural.
- If you have alopecia totalis, the most suitable technique is the machine nano hair-stroke technique or an ultra-realistic technique.
- A combo (mixed) technique can also be used – microblading combined with a machine ombré or shading technique – to create a realistic look for your brows.
