What healed brows look like after six months
Author: Tsvety Bita, permanent makeup specialist

Photos taken right after a treatment show a fresh shape, but they do not prove long-term quality. The real assessment is made on the healed result months later, when the colour has softened and the skin has gone through its daily cycles.
What normally changes
After six months the colour is usually softer than right after the treatment. A powder technique looks airier, and fine strokes may lose a little of their sharpness.
A small difference between areas is possible, especially with oily skin. What matters is that the overall shape remains harmonious and the colour has not shifted into an unwanted strong tone.
- A gradual decrease in intensity.
- A softer outline.
- Slightly different retention in some areas.
What a quality healed result shows
Well-healed brows look like part of the face and do not overpower the eyes. The start is soft, the shape does not stray harshly beyond the natural growth, and the colour is in harmony with the skin and hair.
Quality is not measured only by how dark the pigment has stayed. A result that is too dense may be harder to adapt and correct in the future.
- A harmonious shape with different expressions.
- No harsh square start, unless that style was chosen.
- A colour with no unwanted grey, red or blue cast.
- Gradual fading.
When maintenance makes sense
If the shape is still clear and the colour is sufficient, there is no need to add a new layer just because time has passed. Maintenance makes sense when daily filling-in has become necessary again or there is visible overall fading.
If the colour has changed in an unwanted way, new pigment is not added automatically. First the cause is identified, along with whether correction, neutralisation or lightening is needed.
- Assess your brows without pencil on them.
- Compare with a photo of the healed result, not day one.
- Do not chase constant maximum intensity.
How to photograph the result for a remote assessment
Use daylight by a window, with no filters or beauty mode. Take one photo from the front and one from each side, with the camera at eye level.
Do not wear heavy makeup around the brows and do not apply an oily product just before the photo. This way the specialist can see the real colour and texture.
- No filter and no close-up flash.
- The same distance on both sides.
- A photo of the whole face and a close-up.
- Information about when the treatment and touch-up were done.
Frequently asked questions
Is it normal for the strokes to be less sharp?
Yes, some softening is natural. How much depends on the skin and the technique.
Should there be a touch-up at six months?
Not automatically. Maintenance is done according to the actual fading and the client's needs.
Are photos taken right after the treatment important?
They show the design, but photos after full healing and a few months later are more valuable for assessing retention.
The most accurate recommendation is made after an individual consultation and an assessment of your skin, natural hairs, shape and desired result.
